My Adjectival Summer

In this first blog post, you will write 1 solid paragraph (6-8 sentences) explaining how words or actions changed you this summer. You will begin your paragraph with this sentence:

"I have never felt more _____________________(strong adjective) because of something that happened this summer."

After writing this sentence and filling in the blank with a strong adjective, you will explain what actions or words caused you to feel this way this summer.

For example, I might write, "I have never felt more energized because of something that happened this summer. This summer, I went camping nearly every weekend...." (In my next sentences, I would go on to explain how the experience of camping this summer has made me feel energized).

*Remember, blog posts are posted on "school property." Anything you post must be school-appropriate--something that you wouldn't mind Mrs. Pramenko or your parents reading.

  1. I have never felt more accomplished because of something that happened this summer. This summer I went to camp at camp chief ouray for the second year in a row. Last year I was part of the main camp, but this year I got to be a part of the challenger program. The challenger program is basically two cabins, one with guys one with girls, that spend the week with each other getting to be like a family. On the fourth day of camp the challengers get to hike the five mountains that are on the property, creatively named first, second, third, fourth, and fifth peak. We all carried a rock in our backpacks up all of the mountains to symbolize a burden in our lives. At the top of fifth peak, we threw the rocks off the mountain. It was a long, hot, sunny, tiring day but when I finished it was the best feeling in the world to know that some people give up halfway through and I was able to make it up all five mountains within six hours.

  3. I have never felt more exhausted in my life because I had baseball almost every day this summer. On Monday through Wednesday, we'd have morning workouts for two and a half hours at Slammers. This summer my team played 68 games in tournament and league play. I was the starting center fielder and lead-off hitter. Our team went 1-2 at state and got 5th place. This summer was tons of fun and I can't wait for next summer for baseball.

  4. I have never felt more easygoing because of something that happened this summer. This summer I spent most of my days relaxing poolside, and/or beside my closest friends. One thing in particular that made my summer, was what my friends and I called "Teen Wolf Mondays." Every Monday of summer my friends and I dedicated the day to simply doing nothing but hanging out at each others houses anxiously waiting for Teen Wolf to air later that night. Although it may seem like any other boring day at home, it was one of the most memorable days; hands down. For hours upon hours we could just sit and talk, watch movies, play board games and make enough food to feast on for days. By nighttime we would make buckets of popcorn and shut off the lights to watch Teen Wolf, discussing what happened on commercials. I would consider "Teen Wolf Mondays" my most laid back days of summer because it was practically a whole day dedicated to relaxing with some of my best friends.

  5. I have never felt more spontaneous because of something that happened this summer. I jumped out of my comfort zone and did things I normally wouldn't. For example, I went on a hike up to Devils Head with some of my closet friends, we took awesome pictures and got great exercise while doing it. My friends and I went to a terrific carnival and we all won gold fishes at a carnival game. I traveled to San Diego and surfed everyday I was there. I met a ton of new people, and made some lovely friends. I tried so many new and exciting things this summer that I will never forget. Definitely a summer to remember.

  6. I have never felt more excited because of something that happened this summer. Over the week of fourth of July me and my mom went to Boston, Massachusetts. In Boston we did the freedom walk which was very fun. The real reason why I was excited is because I went to two Boston Red Sox games witch is my favorite team in the mlb. Red Sox were playing the Padres. It was so fun when Johnny Gomes got up to the plate off a pinch hit. On a 3-2 count Gomes hit a walk off home run to win a fourth of July game in front of his home crowd.

  9. I have never felt more exuberant because of something that happened this summer. This summer I went on a 3 week trip to the east coast with Boy Scout Troop D218 to the National Scout Jamboree. For the first 11 days we did a pre tour. We first went to New York for 5 days and we saw everything like NBC Studios, Time Square, Central Park, The 9/11 Memorial and several other things. Then we went to Philly for a day and got Philly Cheese Steaks but I couldn’t because I’m allergic to Cheese so I had to eat a turkey sandwich (gag). We also went to see Independence Hall and Liberty Bell and headed of to Washington DC. We stayed there for 5 days and got 2 full days at the Smithsonian's which wasn’t enough to see everything but it was fun. We went to all of the Memorials and the were amazing. Then we headed to West Virginia for 10 days at the National Jamboree and that was so fun except for the humidity and the heat and the annoying cicadas. The had BMX, Mountain Biking, Skate Boarding, Mountain Boarding, Scuba, Zip Lines, A Wipeout Course and several other exciting stuff. My summer was jam packed full of lacrosse, band, and scouts.

  10. I have never felt more secure than I have this past summer. There was not an idle day when I was without a friend by my side. I know I can always count on these special people and they will always be there for shared memories. My family has prospered because my dad spent as much time as possible with my sister and me doing everything he can for us, shaping us into the best family ever. On a visit to Minnesota, I met a cousin I had not known before. We have a lot in common and became fast friends, communicating through technology daily. There were continual activities such as remodeling the basement, visiting water parks with friends, and quality family time, some times as simple as just watching a movie together. I now feel more secure than I had prior to this past summer.

  11. I have never felt more challenged because of all the fun things I did this summer. One of the first and most challenging things this summer was when I went rock climbing and San Isabel Boy Scout Ranch. It was a lot of fun but at the same time it was very hard too. I had to climb up the side of a small mountain which is one of the most challenging things I have ever done. Also this summer I went dirt biking multiple times which really pushed me to get better. At time it was one of the biggest challenges I have ever had. Over all this summer was a lot of fun because of all the challenges I had.

  12. I have never felt more tired than i have this past summer. I had band every day for a week in June, and had it for 2 weeks in August. I worked so hard through the summer, I've never worked so hard. I met a lot of people and improved more in my music. I think the most challenging thing that was thrown at me was the song "Billboard March" but in the end i got through it. All of the people there have been nice so i guess the summer could have been worse.

I have never felt more alive because of something that happened this summer. This summer I was playing golf on the South Suburban Golf Course. I was on the third hole and was about one hundred thirty yards from the hole. The group in front of me were on the fourth hole. The fourth hole is along side the third hole and its a short par three. I’m not going to talk trash but they were not the best golfers in the world. I had hit an errant shot into the trees and was looking for my ball. Suddenly I heard somthing rip through the trees a second later I saw a golf ball emerge from the trees. I ducked just in time for the ball to narrowly miss my head. At that moment I felt so alive and grateful that I lived to see another day.

  14. I have never felt more thrilled because of something that happened in the summer. I went to Steamboat for a soccer tournament. It was a blast. I recently swiched soccer teams, so it was a little hard to adjust to my new teammates, but they were all so nice and welcoming. We all had so much fun and we came together as a team.

I have never felt more enthusiastic about going to Water World. Because I have never gone to Water World before. It was new for me because of all the rides they had. Water World is a big place, it was also extremely fun. There were parts of Water world that made me a little scared. The best part though was spending time with my brother and cousins.

  16. I have never felt more useful because of something that happened this summer. This summer I was working in the HV/AC business. I spent most of my days in the burning sun to fix or install AC units so that other people could be cool. I would work for up to nine hours a day rewiring, wielding, lifting, and most of all sweating. Although it was a tiring job, it gave me money to spend and a sense of satisfaction

  17. I have never felt more superb because of something that happened this summer. This summer I went to Elitches with a group of my friends from church. It was really fun because we basically rode every ride there. I also spent most of my summer days going to the pool with my friends, and having cannonball contests. I also had many sleepovers where we would stay up all night watching Pretty Little Liars. This summer also gave me a lot of time to relax from all the stress and homework from school.

  18. I have never felt more underestimated because of something that happened this summer. This summer I went on a road trip to North Dakota with my family. It was a two day car ride both going and coming back. It was very boring and time consuming, there were much more productive things to do than sit in a chair for hours. I think that the time I spent in the car helped me become more patient. I also watched my parents drive and it helped me learn more about how to drive cars.

  19. I have never felt more exhausted than I was because of the 6:00 am cheer leading practices I had to attend during the summer. They took place three times a week at Arapahoe in June. The reason this made me exhausted was mostly because of the early time that we had to be there. Since my body was basically still asleep when I was practicing it took a lot more energy out of me to do all of the things we do at practice. It also made me exhausted not only because of the early time that I had to be there but also because after a long two hour practice I couldn't fall asleep so that affected me the rest of the day too. Those were probably the longest days ever. However those practices made me a better athlete today so it was worth going through that exhaustion.

  20. I have never felt more joyful because of something that happened this summer.I went to Branson,Missouri and stayed at a hotel on a lake which also had pools and water slides.I also went zipping in the woods which went really fast and the instructors there were funny. My family and I also went to a magic show and a aquarium were you could feed sharks and sea turtles. The only part that I regret doing was having to go by car to Branson and back with a fully packed car.

  21. I have never felt more fatigued because of something that happened this summer. This summer I did a lot of things that made me very tired but what made me fatigued the most was I had to juggle two sports at the same time. I had soccer at eight in the morning Monday, Wednesday and Friday it was called kick-arounds. This is very self explanatory all the soccer players who are going to try out for Arapahoe this up coming year. Get together and play games with the ball, or kick around. The other sport I had a commitment to was my neighborhood swim team which was every day Monday-Friday and Saturday was a Swim meet all day. Monday-Friday were practices and they started at 7-8 so there is a clash between the two sports. I was so fatigued for this one reason that affected my whole summer, but to look on the bright side it made me a better athlete!

  22. I have never felt more excited because of something that happened this summer. During the summer of my 8TH grade year I hung out with many new people and made several new friends. Almost every summer I've had a pretty good time mainly hanging out with the same friends and just not doing anything to extraordinary. During summer I think the main reason I started hanging around new people is because I wanted to meet some kids that would be at Arapahoe with me next year. I also really wanted to make as much as I could out of this summer because it was my last one before Arapahoe. Even though summer had a very untimely end it was still the best summer of my life because of all the experiences I had. I believe that the memories from last summer will stick with me my whole life.

  23. I have never felt so fantabulous about any other summer than this summer. I got to hang out with all my friends on the daily all summer long. This loaded me with happiness to the extreme because I only know one kid from my middle school going to Arapahoe. I got to spend the last moments with my very close friends in a very special way. Also to end this fun filled summer I had a end of the summer party at my house with all my closest boy and girl-friends. I also had to fit in basketball tournaments into this wonderful summer. I have to say it was pretty great.

  24. I have never felt more excited because of something that happened this summer. This summer my family and I went to Wisconsin for a big family reunion with my dads side of the family. This was so exciting because I got to see all of my aunts and uncles and all of the cousins that I haven't seen for about two years. The reunion took place at my dads brothers house in a little town called Elkhorn. What we did at this gathering was swimming and boating and manny more things. This was the highlight of my summer and was what made it so exciting.

  25. I have never felt more exhausted because of something that happened this summer. Band camp itself is insanely tiring but, switching from flute (the lightest instrument) to sousaphone (the heaviest instrument)was frankly almost impossible. It was very heavy at first but then (as one of the seniors playing another sousa said) I grew a muscle knot on my left shoulder. It takes a ton of air to play long notes which is pretty much every note. The first few weeks I had to huff and puff to get any sound out. We worked on our music for a while and I got a larger lung expansion.

  26. I have never felt more motivated because of something that happened this summer. Over the summer I began doing graphic designs and I have been having a lot of fun with it! Being able to make backgrounds, intros, and photo manipulations makes me motivated because I can actually see myself doing this for a living. I started doing graphics a little bit before the end of 8th grade ended, but I was extremely bad, but over the summer I practiced every single day until I got to the point that I am at today. I think all the practice paid off in the long run because I am now getting paid by people that want me to do graphics for them! I am very motivated because I definitely see myself in the future being a graphic designer or being in the marketing business.

  27. I have never felt more exhausted because of something that happened this summer. I woke up every morning at five so I could go take care of my dad's horses and I wouldn't be able to go to sleep around three in the morning. So i only had around two hours of sleep each night. During the day I would get even more tired because my brothers and my sister would have me watch their kids when they would go to work. I never had a break. I had to make dinner every night. But other-wise then that I had a really good time because, I was finally able to meet my dads part of the family.

  28. I had never felt more adventurous because of something that happened this summer. During the summer, my best friends and I did multiple things that I never pictured us doing let alone myself. I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried a lot of astonishing activities. These activities include, waking up bright and early in the morning to go on a hike at Devil’s Head Lookout. I honestly hated hiking before our trip up to the mountains, but after reaching the top of the hike and observing the breathtaking view Devil’s Head had to offer and eating lunch with my friends at the top of the trail was just so much fun and I loved it. Other activities I did during the summer included going to a carnival with my friends. Growing up, I never really liked going to carnivals because I thought they would be boring even though I had never been to one before. When I actually got the chance to go to one, I had the time of my life. My friends and I went on so many thrilling rides and played incredible carnival games too. In one of the games we played, we all actually won a goldfish that we could keep and take home. These two events made me feel more adventurous because I would never wake up early let alone go on a hike because I was really stubborn but I actually did and I had so much fun. Also, going to a carnival never came to my head as an activity to do during the summer because I didn’t think I would like it, but when I went to one, I had a blast. Stepping out of my comfort zone really made me more adventurous, and I can’t wait for next summer so I can go on even more adventures with my friends and make many more great memories.

  29. I have never felt more uncomfortable because of something that happened this summer. This summer me and my family went up to my uncles lake in Wisconsin. I was very excited to go jet skiing, tubing, and water skiing. I had forgot though about the enormous amount of bugs. Every night i would be bundled up in a hoodie over my face and head, sweats and mid calf socks over the sweats. I would not fall asleep for hours and even when I did sleep, I was always half awake it seemed. I felt like bugs were crawling and flying all over me. It was a miserable week.

  30. I have never felt more stressed because of something that happened this summer. This summer I had to attend for summer school because I got a poor grade in math. This was so stressful because the teacher assigned five pages of homework a day. The class also didn't have a textbook and that made it very hard to get help. Another part of why this was so stressful was because I missed a week and was behind in class because I was at summer camp with my church for a week. I also had to pay for this class as a consequence of getting a poor grade the first time. My summer was so stressful because of horrible the class was.

  31. I have never felt more relaxed because of something that happened this summer. This summer, I slept in everyday. Sleeping in everyday made me feel relaxed because i didn't have to worry about getting up for school. Sleeping in also made me feel relaxed because i got a lot of sleep. That's why sleeping everyday this summer made me feel relaxed.

  32. I have never felt so accomplished in the summer of 2k13. My most memorable part was defiantly my trip to Canada. The last few weeks of summer my dad, my friend, his dad, and I took a 14 hour drive to the Canadian boundary waters for a 6 day canoeing trip for Boy Scouts. Every day we were on the water we canoed a maximum of about 15 miles a day then stopped at our camp site on the lake. At the end of the trip we ended with 56 miles of canoeing in total. That is by far the highlight of my summer.

  33. I couldn't have felt more irriatted then when my mom insisted at instead of going out with friends I had to help work on the house! Some people may know that I moved here from Racine Wisconsin! Well we had to do a lot of work on the house in order to get the renters moved in! We had to paint almost every room, put new flooring Intel rooms, and clean it tip its close to spotless! That's a lot of work and we all found out we had more then we thought. And for some reason very time I actually was going to make panes with friends (which I dint do often) my mom wanted me at the the house working but then complained when i had no planes! Oh well what am I going to do summers over with schools started, the past is the past!

  34. I have never felt more insane because of something that happened to me this summer. Over 4th of July weekend I went to Las Vegas. There are lots of fun attractions to go do but one in particular stood out to me, and the was the Stratosphere. The Stratosphere is known for the highest controlled free fall. I watched a lot of videos of people doing it and I knew I just had to do it. When I got all harnessed up the instructors told me to go to the edge and when they say," 3,2,1 jump" i jump. When I jumped I was screaming as loud as I have ever screamed before. After I reached the bottom I felt more insane than ever.

  35. I have never felt so receptive because of something that happened this summer. Throughout the summer, I had the opportunity to go boating several times with one of my best friends, Paige. When Paige called me, I told her I had never gone boating before and she convinced me to try it out. I was a little reluctant at first, but once the boat was floating in the water, I knew it would be a blast! The second we stepped on the pedal and started to ride around the lake, I could feel the cool breeze and the sun shining down and glistening on my skin. I felt so relaxed and calm. That same day, I was able to water skii off the back of the boat. The water was icy cold, but it was entirely worth it. I had never been boating before until this summer, but I am so overjoyed that I had the opportunity to have a memorable new experience and I am looking forward to have many more next summer.
